If You Can’t Be There, Then Write A Story: #2, ‘Daisy The Dog Makes A Friend

The first story was a hit with the grandchildren. The video of our son reading it demonstrated they had great interest and even were able to decipher the sketches as to who was who. It was fun writing and illustrating the story. So much so, that I’m trying my hand at it, again.

As a reminder, the story is based on real events, all the way down to the staring.

Enjoy and any tips to help my sketching are appreciated.

One reader said about my blog stories, "...these are like a cold sip during a marathon run, simple, real life events". Another offered about my blog, “it brings some sense of normalcy not easily found in the modern world.”

    1. Thanks, Jennie. It’s fun writing them. I tested it in a Senior worker at local Wegmans and she loved it and is asking for another one. Maybe it’ll appeal to both ends of the age spectrum 😉.

  1. Our grandchildren loved a whole series of stories my husband made up about the big sister and little brother. They especially loved us telling them as we drove. Of course you have a good substitute in print along with the whimsical drawings. But as for a woodchuck, glad he is near you not us!

    1. Elizabeth, I like your description of the drawings as ‘whimsical’. That’s how I’ll describe them because they’re certainly not artistic, but they suffice. Kid love hearing stories, don’t they. As for the woodchucks, they are a nuisance in neighborhoods. Fortunately, he and his crew hang out in a local park. If they stay there, that’s fine. If they come here, then it’s open warfare. By the way, where are you soin can give them directions bid they decide to relocate?
